There is a place for you.

Whether you have been without housing for a while, or you have just recently found yourself unexpectedly without housing, there are lots of resources in our city that will provide you with an opportunity to get back on your feet.

We understand that it feels overwhelming and impossible. We are here to help you. If you would like help trying to secure temporary housing, we will walk alongside of you as you begin to take the necessary steps, just click the button “I need help.”

Below are organizations where you can begin to find help in the city of New Bedford.

1. NBHSPN homelessness network committed to eliminating homelessness in New Bedford.  Helps people find affordable homes whether they are in situational or chronic homelessness.

2. Steppingstone Inc Women’s Program house for women and women with infants in New Bedford. Also helps women find housing and employment after exiting program.

5. Harbour House Family Shelter for people with children or expecting; have to go through DTA to be placed.

7. New Bedford House of Hope place to sleep, food to eat, counseling/therapy available, substance abuse counseling/rehab

8. Grace Episcopal Church “Laundry Love” program providing free laundry service for those who are homeless/in need.  Last Monday of every month at EZ Clean Laundry (80 Summer St.) from 2-5 pm. Two wash/dry loads per person.

***Those who are homeless (no permanent address) who need an ID can get an affidavit from the RMV, bring it to a homeless shelter, and have them fill it out with them to show that they are staying somewhere.

3. Mo Life Food Pantry is open 3 Wednesdays a month (call first) 10-12.  1x per month limit. Need photo ID and proof of income.

4. Salvation Army – bread giveaway Monday-Friday 1-2:30 pm; food giveaway 2nd Thursday of month, photo ID required.  Food pantry on 4th Thursday of month (must have annual registration)

5. Grace Episcopal Church has a food pantry (open Wednesdays and Fridays) and serves free breakfast every Sunday

7. United Way of Greater New Bedford has a summer program to provide free, fresh produce to low-income families

8. American Red Cross (Boys/Girls Club) has a food pantry third Thursday of month (need photo ID, proof of income, rent receipts, proof of address).

9. Catholic Social Services Food Pantry is every Wednesday and Thursday 10-12.  Only allowed 1x per 30 days.  Need ID, proof of income, etc. masshealth card for children.

10. Debbie’s Kitchen Food Pantry is on Saturdays 10-12 (limit 1x per month).  Need photo ID, food stamp ID, proof of income.

11. PACE, Inc. offers a food pantry based on emergency needs.  Monday – Friday 9-11 am, Tuesday – Friday 2-3 pm.  need photo ID and insurance verification.

12. Seven Hills Behavioral Health has a food pantry Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30-12 pm.; need photo ID and proof of income/address
